No One in Lenawee County Should Go Hungry

Nutritious food, dignity, and hope when it’s needed most.

Hunger Won’t Wait…
Neither Do We

Every day in Lenawee County, families, seniors, students, and workers face the uncertainty of not knowing where their next meal will come from. At the Meal Assistance Program of Lenawee County (MAP), we believe food is more than sustenance. It’s a lifeline. It’s health. It’s hope.

Thanks to the dedication of our volunteers, the generosity of our donors, and the support of our partners, MAP is making a tangible difference – one meal, one family, one neighbor at a time.

Together, We’re Feeding Lenawee County

Every number you see here represents more than food; it’s relief from worry, a healthier tomorrow, and a reminder that this community cares.

Behind every pound of food is a face, a name, and a story of hope. These numbers show the meals we’ve shared, the neighbors we’ve helped, and the difference we’re making together.

Hunger is real in Lenawee County, but so is the impact we can make when we work together. These numbers reflect the meals, families, and futures we’re helping to nourish right now.

Hunger Hurts More Than Empty Stomachs

Hunger in Lenawee County is a daily reality for far too many families, seniors, students, and workers. According to the USDA, more than 1 in 7 households here are food insecure — meaning they’re unsure where their next meal will come from. For children, the impact is even more devastating. Studies show that hunger can stunt cognitive development, lower academic performance, and lead to behavioral and emotional struggles. For adults, food insecurity is linked to chronic health problems like heart disease, diabetes, and weakened immune systems.

But hunger’s impact reaches beyond physical health — it creates stress, anxiety, and a constant battle between paying bills and putting food on the table. It’s a barrier to learning, working, and living fully. Hunger doesn’t just affect individuals; it strains families, schools, and the entire community. And while the problem is complex, the solution is within reach when neighbors, organizations, and supporters come together.

Child Hunger

Thousands of local children, including over 1,000 in Adrian Public Schools alone, don’t have reliable access to nutritious meals, impacting their ability to learn and grow.

Senior Food Insecurity

Older adults, especially those living alone or on fixed incomes, face tough choices between food, medication, and utilities.

Fresh Food Access

Many Lenawee County families lack access to fresh fruits and vegetables. In 2023, MAP distributed over 110,000 lbs. of fresh produce through our programs.

Migrant Worker Support

Seasonal and migrant workers play a vital role in our local economy yet often struggle to access familiar, nutritious foods while far from home.

Goals to End Hunger in Our Community

The fight against hunger is a collective effort, and we are only as strong as our willingness to work together. The Meal Assistance Program is dedicated to providing essential food resources to individuals and families facing food insecurity. But, we can’t do it alone. Every dollar donated ensures that someone in need will have access to a nutritious meal.

Your financial contribution makes a direct impact in our community, allowing us to continue serving those who rely on our support. Help us today by making a donation to MAP.
